Te Araroa Trail Auckland
We had a very special morning on the trail today!
We spent the day with Red, who I met one day last summer as she was doing the Hakarimatas stretch of Te Araroa trail.
Red is an all-round beautiful person, TA trail walker 2016/17, and now trail angel extraordinare. She thoroughly spoilt Anouck and I. What a wonderful day!
We ate breakfast at Takapuna beach cafe, and were joined by our trail buddy Bruce who I met on 90 mile beach– it was awesome to catch up with him!! We spent a lovely couple of hours quizzing Red about the trail, and got some great tips.

After breakfast Red was our guide for the morning. We walked and talked our way to North Head (Maungauika), Mount Victoria (Takarunga), and finally into Devonport where we enjoyed superb tea and cake in Corelli’s cafe.
Trail Angel Red
Red treated us to everything, and it was wonderful to enjoy her company. The kindness and generosity of our wonderful Kiwi hosts is staggering.
Anouck and I got the ferry to central Auckland and we parted ways while we both have a few rest days, and contemplate our next moves.
